gentlemen," Adkins summed it up for the writing/ production team, "is a 'how-to
guide' to go along with the video. It's got to be simple, practical, and easy to follow. A
manual that takes you through the process step-by-step."
The team sought out a
dozen of the nation's top experts. "We were looking for the best in each of the major
investigative fields," said Hoover. "The PI's and search experts chosen were
briefed: the questions Anni would ask would be aimed at finding out exactly how the pros
conducted an investigation and also what ordinary people could do on their own."
Armed with a flare for
the dramatic and an almost indefatigable sense of more, Hoover filmed each investigator,
unrehearsed, in his or her unique work environment. Without exception, and to their
unending credit, each professional was open, forthright, and candid in their responses to
Adkins' often pointed and penetrating questions.
From twenty-five hours
of in-depth interviews, a veritable treasure trove of insider information, came the
four-hour instructional video, "Secrets of Top PI's - How to Conduct any
Investigation."
From the video and a
mountain of resource materials evolved the how-to manual, "Secrets of Top PI's - How
to Conduct Your Own Investigation."
